Mitcheldean look for next Kelly Smith

Mitcheldean Sports Club are starting the search for the next Kelly Smith.

They are starting an under 14 Girls Football Team and training begins on Monday March 7 at 7pm, at Dene Magna School Sports Hall.

The session will last an hour, and costs £2 per head.

Current Mitcheldean SC Ladies team manager Phil Ellaway said: “We have been running a school link with Dene Magna School, there has been quite a bit of interest from the girls; so the next logical step is to develop a Club team.”

The Club are looking for enthusiastic girl players who will be under 14 on the 31st August; as if there is sufficient interest; the team will enter the Girls County League.

Mr Ellaway added “No experience is necessary; girls who have never tried football before are more than welcome. The plan is; we will start training now, and enter Tournaments through the close season to gain competitive experience, then enter the League for September.”

Mr Ellaway is a FA qualified coach, with a current CRB certificate; and is a member of the FA Coaches Association.
He can be contacted on 07792 891999 or philellaway@gmail.com.
