Cinderford notched up another three points on their travels overcoming a dogged Yate team on Saturday. Following a scrappy and nervous start Cinderford got into their stride and a superb passing movement saw Sommers lay off fall perfectly for Egan whose shot thudded against the post. Egan a constant threat throughout then produced an inviting cross that Whittington narrowly headed wide. Yate’s first real sight of goal fell to Plummer but Andy Lewis cleared his shot off the line. Groves and Plummer both failed to make the most of scoring opportunities and when the latter did hit the target shortly afterwards Ben John made a fine save.

Yate started the second half with plenty of possession but lacking a real goal scoring threat. The arrival of first Mc Cootie and then midfield duo Evans and Tait from the bench re energised the Cinderford side and they duly raised the tempo of the match. On 60 minutes Steve Peter’s changes paid off as Greg Lewis produced a superb finish to give Town the lead. Yate sought to respond quickly but John saved well from Groves and with Greg and Andy Lewis effectively shackling the home strikers, the storm had passed. Dale Evans twice went close as Cinderford grew visibly in confidence and they wrapped up the points in emphatic style on 84 minutes. Egan started the move, then the ever industrious Haines found Mc Cootie and his assured finish left Dempsey with no chance.
Cinderford will face a sterner test at home to Bideford on Tuesday night kick off 19.45pm.
