Cinderford enjoyed a comfortable victory against bottom of the table Stourport this afternoon. The home side went ahead on nine minutes when Lewis Sommers latched onto a long ball and slammed his shot past Whitcome. Two minutes later Town doubled their lead when a mix up of comic proportions between the visitors centre backs and keeper saw an un opposed Mc Cootie walk the ball into the net. Following a fine run by Mc Cootie, Egan had a shot deflected wide and Sommers saw his header cleared off the line. Bridges wasted Stourport’s best opportunity of the half when his header looped over the bar. While for Town, Harrison’s effort narrowly missed the target as the home side looked to increase their advantage.

Cinderford deservedly extended their lead on 47 minutes when Lee’s cross was only half cleared and Sommers slotted home his second. Bridges robbed a dozing Andy Lewis but lifted his shot over the bar as Stourport tried to respond. Sommers though notched his hat trick on 61 minutes with a fine finish from a well judged Mc Cootie pass. Mc Cootie then skilfully eluded the visitors defence but shot wide while for the visitors, Dinsley was unlucky to hit the post with John beaten. Mike Whittington entering the fray as a substitute grabbed himself a brace firstly latching on to Ashton’s poor clearance then sliding home an inch perfect Sommers cross. A professional performance against a side deep in the relegation mire, low on confidence and ideas.
