Bishops Cleeve 0 – 1 Bideford

A strong wind blowing down the pitch spoiled what should have been an entertaining game, kicking into this the Villagers struggled to get the ball forward and shots by Michael Jackson and Alex Sykes both failed to test Grant Fisher in the Bideford goal. Bideford did have the ball in the net but Sean Downing was off-side. However it was Downing who scored the only goal when he ran, from what appeared to be an off-side position, to a ball that had bounced out of the centre circle and was allowed to continue, he placed the ball round the advancing James Nortei. In the final minute of the half, Carl Brown had a shot from 20 yards nervously pushed wide by Fisher.
The second half saw Bideford defend deep, and employ delaying tactics that went unpunished, to thwart the Cleeve attacks, and despite being camped in the opposing half it wasn’t until time added on that a Sam Avery throw in fell to Brown but his shot was straight at Fisher. On one of their rare attacks Bideford’s Matt Andrew broke clear of Ryan Clarke but his shot was saved by Nortei.
