A typically competitive and hard fought local derby at The Causeway saw the visitors stage a second half comeback to claim all three points. Brown could have given Cleeve the lead early on but his shot was well held by John. Cleeve had the better of the early exchanges and a Midwinter cross found Brown but he was once again denied by a smart save from John. Cinderford came into the game as the half went on and took the lead on 34 minutes when a long range drive from Aaron Cornwall squirmed under the hapless Nortei. Andy Lewis then produced a fine run and cross shot but Mc Cootie was unable to apply the finishing touch.
Half Time Cinderford Town 1 Bishop’s Cleeve 0
Cleeve drew level on 65 minutes when Tambling ran onto a long ball and profiting from defensive hesitation coolly slid his effort past John. From a Barnes cross Lee saw his effort acrobatically saved as Cinderford sought to regain the initiative. Cleeve though were dangerous on the break and Malcolm cleared off the line following a fumble by John. Cinderford’s keeper then did well to parry Hyde’s powerful strike and produced a brilliant point blank stop to keep out Brown. Cornwall headed Lee’s centre wide before the visitors went ahead. John was adjudged to have brought down Hyde and ex Town defender Caldwell stroked home the penalty. Town came agonisingly close to an equaliser when Evans rattled the bar from Lee’s pass but Cleeve survived to clinch their victory.
