Forest Green Rovers have unveiled new home and away strips as the club embark on an exciting upcoming season.
The club’s new home strip is devoid of stripes, which have symbolised the club; instead they will don a bright green and black shirt made by German manufacturer Adidas, writes Simon Clark.
The Nailsworth-based club will wear an all-white ensemble on away trips, last worn over 100 years ago by the side.
Chairman Dale Vince has said that the two new playing strips symbolises the club’s bright future as well as harking back to Forest Green’s history.
Vince said: “With our new all-white away kit we are resurrecting a strip that the club last played in a century ago; showing we are proud of our heritage.
“The new green and black home kit shows that we are looking to the future with the bold new colours and our first serious challenge for promotion.”
Manager Dave Hockaday also believes the colours can bring a new focus to the club.
“The shirts both look very good, the players like it a lot too”, he said. “When people think of Forest Green, the colour green is obviously brought forward, and to be
playing in it is good all on fronts.
“The white kit is superb and brings history back into focus; they’re both winners for me.”
