New Forest Green Rovers signing Magno Vieira believes that his new club will be ‘fighting for promotion’ in the upcoming season.
The Brasilia-born striker, who netted 31 goals in two seasons at Fleetwood Town is excited at the prospect of leading the club into a new era, writes Simon Clark.
“I’m feeling really good here, it’s a brilliant setup and I’m enjoying the challenge so far”, he said.
“Today was only the third training session but I can already see that there are a few really top young players in the team, and a lot of competition.
“My job is to bring my experience and help these guys out. I’ve had a lot of fun at this level, scoring many goals so that is obviously my main job, but creating chances for the others and helping them progress is something I look to do.”
The Nailsworth outfit now possesses seven forwards, but the Brazilian is used to the challenge of playing in a team with a surplus of forwards, after spending the last two seasons at big-spending Fleetwood Town.
“We had a superb strikeforce there who could’ve scored a ton in League Two, even League One”, the 27 year-old said.
“We had a brilliant team, but it’s the same as here at Forest Green.
“We’ve signed good players, there were class strikers already here from last season and it’s something to look forward to. Hopefully we can have a very good season.”
The change of scenery is something that the Brazilian is still getting used to, however.
“It’s a change, a big change for me,” he chuckled.
“It’s really nice here though; it’s very green and quiet so my family will like it a lot.
“I’m still finding somewhere to live which I hope someone at the club will help me with but I just want to get into the flow of training and playing matches, and winning now.
“This is a team that can definitely be up there by the end of the season.”
