FA Cup: Bishops Cleeve 6 – 0 Bracknell Town

Despite even possession in the opening minutes the Villagers created all the opportunities, Will Gayton stung the fingers of The Robins goalkeeper, Dexter Burt, with two sharp efforts from 25 yards, one he parried out and the other he tipped on to the post and out for a corner. It was Gayton again who rose to meet an Alex Hoyle cross, but he couldn’t keep the header down. Carl Brown had a good opportunity when he got onto the end of a Jimmy Nortei clearance but having turned his marker he shot straight at Burt. It was Michael Tambling who opened the scoring after 32 minutes, Michael Jackson played the ball out to Tambling out on the left, he cut inside and unleashed a 25 yard shot that went into the angle of post and bar giving Dexter Burt no chance. Burt was called in to action minutes later when a combination of passes between Gayton, Carl Brown and Lamin Sankoh led to the latter shooting from the edge of the penalty area and the ‘keeper tipping it over the bar. The Villagers then had a string of corners taken by Mikey Davis. Brown stole in at the near post to head the first against the base of the post and eventually Brown got his first goal in the 36th minute, when he headed in another Mikey Davis corner from close range. He made it 3-0 2 minutes later when Tambling raced down the left wing, put in a low cross and Brown chipped the ball over the stranded Burt.
The second half was all Cleeve, on 55 minutes Tambling picked up a loose ball from Alex Luis took the ball into the penalty area and put the ball past Burt at his near post. With the Villagers were now camped in the Bracknell half, Brown completed his hat-trick in the 60th minute when Tambling crossed to him on the edge of the penalty area, he evaded a lunging tackle from Steve Nebbett and shot into the bottom corner of the net. Bracknell’s only chance of the match came on 75 minutes Taylor Elliott-Money put a deep cross to Scott Williams whose first time volley crashed against the cross bar. Lee Davis completed the scoring in the 79th minute when the Robins defence failed to react to a quick free kick by Alex Hoyle to Mikey Davis, his cross was only cleared to the edge of the penalty and Lee Davis’ low first time volley went just inside the post with Burt nowhere.
