Not many could argue with the impact Alex Sykes has had on the recent history of some of Gloucestershire’s biggest non league football clubs, writes Richard Joyce.

The Staffordshire born midfielder has enjoyed huge success since his arrival in the county as a student at the University of Gloucestershire after turning down a week to week contract at Football League side Mansfield Town, the club where he made his one and only Football League appearance, slamming in a spectacular edge of the box effort on his debut against Walsall.

Wimborne Town 0-4 Bishops Cleeve

Cleeve made the long trip to Dorest worthwhile by crushing Wimborne. Assitant Manager Alex Sykes opened the scoring on 24 to leave Cleeve with an advantage heading into half time.
